About Mohe National Forest Park

Mohe National Forest Park, situated in Mohe County, Heilongjiang Province, is the northernmost forest park in China and often referred to as the "Arctic Village" of the country. The park covers expansive boreal forests dominated by coniferous species such as larch and spruce, providing critical habitat for northern wildlife including Amur tigers, black bears, and various migratory birds. Its geography features a mix of dense forestland, rivers, wetlands, and tundra-like open areas shaped by the cold climate. The region is renowned for its extreme temperatures, experiencing long, harsh winters and short, cool summers, which contribute to a unique subarctic ecosystem rarely found elsewhere in China.

Historically, the area has been home to indigenous Evenki and Hezhen peoples, whose traditional lifestyles remain part of the cultural identity of the park. Visitors are drawn to Mohe National Forest Park not only to witness the stunning natural beauty but also to engage in outdoor activities such as hiking, wildlife viewing, and northern lights observation, as Mohe is one of the few locations in China where this phenomenon is regularly visible during winter. Key landmarks include the North Pole Village, which celebrates the park’s extreme latitude, and the Hei River, known for its picturesque scenery.

The park appeals to those seeking remote wilderness adventures and cultural encounters, emphasizing ecotourism and conservation. Its protected forests serve as a critical ecological buffer zone contributing to regional biodiversity conservation and climate resilience. Overall, Mohe National Forest Park represents a remarkable northern wilderness destination blending nature, culture, and adventure.
